CARY, NC, September 14, 2021 – The Atlantic Tire Championships completed the singles first-round on Tuesday.
Five Americans advanced to the second round. Michael Mmoh and qualifier Aleksandar Kovacevic both advanced with straight set victories, 6-1, 6-3 and 7-6(3), 6-4 respectively. Meanwhile Bjorn Frantangelo earned a spot in the second round through a three-set victory over fellow American Alexander Sarkissian, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1.
Rounding out the advancing Americans were wildcard Zachary Svajda due to a retirement and Christopher Eubanks by a default. Both Svajda and Eubanks recently played high profile matches at this year’s U.S. Open. Svajda played a second-round match against Jannik Sinner of Italy and Eubanks played fellow countryman Frances Tiafoe in the first round.
In doubles action, the defending champions of the Atlantic Tire Championships, Christian Harrison and Dennis Novikov, continued their doubles success in their first-round match.
