CARY, NC, September 13, 2021 – The Atlantic Tire Championships, a USTA Pro Circuit ATP 80 event, started the second leg of its summer series on Monday at the Cary Tennis Park.
Two recent champions of the Atlantic Tire Championships advanced to the second round of the 32-player draw.
First to advance was Mitchell Krueger in straight sets against Jason Kubler, 6-3, 6-2. Krueger is the current defending champion of the Atlantic Tire Championships having won the title in July of this year. Our 2020 champion and two seed of this tournament, Denis Kudla, also advanced by outlasting Donald Young, 7-6(3), 4-6, 6-2.
Fellow American, JC Aragone, joined Krueger and Kudla into the second round with a win over Denmark’s Mikael Torpegaard, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Three seed, Salvatore Caruso from Italy and Australians Aleksandar Vukic and Max Purcell also earned spots into the second round of the Atlantic Tire Championships.
The Atlantic Tire Championships is in its 7th year as a USTA Pro Circuit event.
