CARY, NC, September 15, 2021 – Returning champions continue their advance to the quarterfinals.

Denis Kudla, champion of the 2020 Atlantic Tire Championships, outlasted former collegiate player Aleksandar Kovacevic, 6-7(2), 6-2, 6-3. Our defending champion from our tournament in July of this year, Mitchell Krueger, defeated Dayne Kelly, 6-4, 6-4.

Australians Aleksandar Vukic and Max Purcell secured spots into the quarterfinals. Vukic did so by knocking out the third seed of the tournament, Salvatore Caruso from Italy, 6-2, 6-4 and Max Purcell with a straight set win over JC Aragone, 6-2, 6-2.

The evening crowd treated to solid doubles play from William Blumberg and Max Schnur in an upset of the top seeds Lloyd Glasspool and Nicholas Monroe, 6-2, 7-5. Earlier in the day, Australians Alex Bolt and Rinky Hijikata battled the two seed tandem of Evan King and Jackson Withrow in a heavily contested match going the distance, 7-6(7), 6-7, (5), 12-10.

The tournament resumes Thursday with quarterfinal action starting at 1:00 pm (local time) at the Cary Tennis Park.
