TWO AMERICAN SEEDS ADVANCE TO QUARTERFINALS

 

CARY, NC, September 12, 2018 – Only two seeded players will advance to the singles quarterfinals.  No. 4 seed Reilly Opelka and No. 5 seed Bjorn Fratangelo both finished their matches in just over an hour.

Bjorn Fratangelo defeated former Georgia Tech player Christopher Eubanks and will face Alejandro Gonzalez in the quarterfinals on Thursday.  It will be the pair’s third meeting.

Opelka’s 17 aces helped to defeat fellow American Donald Young.  He will face Dominik Koepfer on Thursday.  Koepfer defeated Alexei Popyrin in just under three hours, the longest match of the day.

The Atlantic Tire Championships are held at Cary Tennis Park. The field for this $50,000 event features 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams. Tickets can be purchased online at the tournament website www.atlantictirechampionships.com, or at the Cary Tennis Park.
