CARY, NC, September 12, 2019 – With today’s wins, an American player is guaranteed to be in the finals of the Atlantic Tire Championships. Tommy Paul easily won his afternoon match to advance to the Quarterfinals.  Paul, the No. 2 seed, defeated University of Virginia’s Brandon Nakashima to advance to the quarterfinals.  He will take on the No. 11 seed, Michael Mmoh, on Friday. Mmoh’s strong serving was a key factor in his win over Mikael Torpegaard.  Other Americans in the bottom half of the draw include wildcard Ulises Blanch and JC Aragone.

Thursday night’s featured singles match pitted Noah Rubin against friend Christopher Eubanks.  Despite firing 21 aces, 11 in the third set, Eubanks was not able to pull out the win to advance to the Quarterfinals.  Rubin will face the No. 1 seed, Andrea Seppi on Friday evening.
